WHAT’S THIS SQUIGGLY LINE I SEE ALL OVER DOGTOWN AND THE DRAKE NEIGHBORHOOD?
The squiggly line is a visual theme created by Des Moines Artist - in - Residence, Eleanor Kahn, as part of an interactive sidewalk art experience. It is being painted all around Dogtown and the Drake Neighborhood to symbolize how we are threaded together while also encouraging playful and curious exploration of this beautiful neighborhood !
HOW CAN I INTERACT WITH THIS ART?
Answer the prompt “What’s for Dinner?” using provided chalk on any of the painted areas of the sidewalk !
Feel free to use pictures or words to express yourself :)
Then , if you want, take a picture and post on instagram !

WHY “WHAT’S FOR DINNER?” ?
We want to build community and story telling opportunity around the culture of food ! Dogtown offers a rich array of food from different ethnicities and the neighborhood itself is very diverse, so we wanted to celebrate that through conversation and art engagement with the prompt “what’s for dinner?” You can also see it translated into some of the many languages present in the neighborhood!
CAN I ENGAGE IN ANY WAY OTHER THAN DRAWING?
Yes! There are hidden murals off the main University Ave. stretch of Dogtown.
Find them, snap a picture and post on Instagram ! Use #dogtowndsm :)
